ANTHONY ROSTANT

Mr. Anthony Rostant started ALL PEST EXTERMINATING and CONTROL SERVICES LTD. in 1989; offering general pest control services.

Mr. Rostant's experience in pest control came out of his background in agriculture. Having managed a variety of farms and a large estate with over 400 head of cattle, he had been responsible for the control of pests in the pastures and orchards, pens and feed rooms as well as both ‘endo' and ‘ecto' parasites in the livestock He then spent some time at a small pest control firm, starting as a salesman. However, he quickly achieved the post of sales manager, when in less than one month he had broadened their scope of services and doubled their customer base. Mr. Rostant has gone on to acquire certification in structural pest management, construction technology, OSHA general standard and home inspection.

Mr. Rostant always the environmentalist, eventually left because of the non compliance with safety standards in that company.

On starting his own company in 1989, his motto was: "I WILL NOT USE IN YOUR HOME, ANYTHING THAT I WOULD NOT USE IN MY OWN". He almost immediately garnered such clients as Bermudez Biscuit Co., Kiss Baking, Holiday Foods, the Pizza/ Burger Boys Chain and Home Construction Ltd., among many others. He also successfully launched the S.W.A.T. line of products in the local market: even then, emphasizing safety and environmental consciousness.

As Mr. Rostant and by extension, the company, evolved over the ensuing years, there came a time when there was a need for change of image.

Mr. Rostant wanted the company's name to reflect that pest management could be effectively achieved with low or no toxicity, always with the client's and the environment's safety at the fore. Mr. Rostant also saw that specialization was going to be the future of the industry. He wanted to get out of general pest services to specialize in cellulose attacking pests and needed to convey this to the public. Ecological Termite Control Ltd ( EcTerCon ) was born in 1998. This was a bold step at the time, the public and most professionals had not yet caught the environmental wave. Mostly, only persons in industry were familiar with the term occupational health and safety. That was not all - Ecological Termite Control Ltd. would be the first specialist pest company in Trinidad & Tobago.

Like everything else, safety has its price. With very high self imposed standards, most of the locally available chemicals were unacceptable for use by EcTerCon. The safe, new generation products were two to four times the price. While had to increase it's rates, it would have to absorb some of that cost if it was going to stay competitive. There were progressively thinking companies like Home Construction Ltd., Solex Construction (Altex), Fred Chin Lee & Associates, The Normandie Hotel, Royal Property Development Ltd. (Royal Homes), just to name a few, that had the vision and supported the concept of safe pest management.

Mr. Rostant has mandated that should continually search and be ever vigilant for alternative control methods and to try to develop new products and systems of its own, where there is no acceptable and available solution to a problem.

Navin Rampersad was born in Maracas, St. Joseph in 1983. He joined the pest control industry some six years ago. On beginning work with Ecological Termite Control limited he was trained in our unique methods of pest management and has shown himself to be a most competent individual and holds a Senior Technician post in the company.
